The last of four teens who fled a Miramar-area group home in August has been found safe, Puerto Rico police said Friday — closing out a search that ended in tragedy for one of the group.
Damon Córdova Rivera, 15, was located in good health Friday at the Leonardo Santiago public housing complex in Juana Díaz, according to the Coordinator for Missing Persons Investigations at the Superintendencia Auxiliar en Investigaciones Criminales (SAIC).
Córdova Rivera was one of four minors who left the Hogar del Niño Manuel Fernández Juncos in Santurce on Aug. 27. Two of the others, Jacqxiel M. Jamil Valentín and Florentino Elías William Franco, were found safe in the weeks that followed — Franco at a relative’s home in Guaynabo. The fourth, Yadiel Torrales Lazú, 16, was found dead Sept. 9 on the grounds of a shuttered power plant in Arroyo; his death remains classified as one of undetermined cause.
With Córdova Rivera’s recovery, all four teens from the case have now been accounted for.
