One of four teenagers who went missing from the Fernández Juncos group home in Miramar has been found safe, police say, while the search continues for three others who left the facility over the same two-day span.
Florentino Elías William Franco, 14, who left the Hogar del Niño Manuel Fernández Juncos on the night of Aug. 28 — one day after three fellow residents — has been located safe, according to police. The search for him has been called off.
Franco was the fourth of four teens reported missing from the Miramar facility since Aug. 27, as Condado Daily reported. The first three left the group home at around 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 27, according to director Rodolfo de los Ángeles Vega Carranza, who told police they took their belongings before jumping the property’s security fence.
Three teens remain missing: Yadiel Torrales Lazú, 16; Jacqxiel M. Jamil Valentín, 16 (also spelled “Jaqxiel” in some reports); and Damon Córdova Rivera, 15.
The Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s Missing Persons Division, working out of the San Juan Criminal Investigation Center, has appealed to the public for information on the three since Aug. 31.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Missing Persons Coordinator’s Office (SAIC) at 787-793-1234, extensions 2463 or 2464, or the police department’s confidential tip line at 787-343-2020.
