A 35-year-old man was hospitalized Wednesday after being stabbed multiple times during a fight at the intersection of Juan Ponce de León and Roberto H. Todd avenues in Santurce, in front of Caribbean Forensic & Technical College.
Police received a 911 call at about 6:29 a.m. reporting a fight in progress. Officers assigned to the San Juan and Santurce precinct arrived to find municipal paramedics already treating the injured man.
According to the account the man and his partner gave authorities, another individual approached him and began arguing over whose turn it was to ask drivers for money at the traffic light. When he refused to leave the area, the two began fighting and the other man used a knife to wound him several times.
Police described both men as homeless.
He suffered wounds to his right shoulder, the left side of his chest, the side below his left arm and his back, among other parts of his body.
The man was taken to Centro Médico in Río Piedras, where he underwent surgery. Police described his condition as stable.
No arrest has been reported.
