A Bayamón woman told police someone took her purse and $1,000 in cash from her car in the San Juan Marriott’s Ashford Avenue parking lot, in a complaint filed Tuesday morning.
San Juan municipal police are investigating a theft from a vehicle parked at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino on Ashford Avenue in Condado.
According to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s preliminary report, the complainant, a 30-year-old Bayamón resident, said someone took a purse she had left inside her black Acura. The theft is believed to have occurred Monday, September 7, while the vehicle was parked at the hotel.
The woman told authorities the Steve Madden purse was on the front passenger seat and contained $1,000 in cash. She also said she had left the vehicle unlocked, a detail that is now part of the investigation.
The complaint was filed at about 11:29 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.
Authorities have not said whether security cameras captured the incident or whether anyone has been identified as a suspect.
The theft follows a similar property crime nearby last week, when a masked robber took a Dior wallet and $1,200 in cash from a man in Ocean Park.
San Juan municipal police officer Christopher Ramón took charge of the initial investigation. Police asked anyone with information to call the confidential line at 787-343-2020.
