DDEC Deputy Secretary Roberto Lefranc Fortuño said Sept. 25 he has “assumed every responsibility with rectitude and integrity” throughout his career, after independent special prosecutors widened their OGPe corruption probe to include him.
“No haré declaraciones adicionales sobre el particular por tratarse de una investigación en curso,” Lefranc said, declining further comment given the ongoing investigation. He said he respects the investigative process and will respond to the panel’s requests.
Gov. Jenniffer González-Colón said there is “no formal accusation” against Lefranc and called for the panel to finish its work and report findings publicly. Resident Commissioner Pablo José Hernández said removing Lefranc isn’t necessary now, but said that if the panel files formal charges, he should be temporarily removed at least until a preliminary hearing.
The panel’s expansion was prompted by witness testimony gathered during its investigation of former OGPe officials, and draws in part on a June 2026 letter from former DDEC Secretary Sebastián Negrón Reichard.
