Two men were shot and killed early Saturday at Calle Las Flores and Calle San Juan in Santurce’s Trastalleres sector, outside the Los Lirios public housing complex.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight, with local outlets reporting times between 12:42 and 12:49 a.m. The victims, described as approximately 60 and in their mid-30s, had not been identified as of Saturday. CIC San Juan is investigating.
Update, Oct. 1: Police have identified the victims as Francisco Catalá Seise, 65, a resident of the area, and Roberto Randy Orozco, 33. Investigators recovered about 60 shell casings at the scene, including from long weapons, and four residents’ parked cars were struck.
Police say they’re preliminarily looking at a possible link to disputes in La Perla, where Orozco lived, though that theory remains under investigation. They say the shooting is unrelated to the separate Barrio Obrero shooting reported the same week.
El Vocero puts San Juan at 63 homicides this year, seven more than at the same point in 2025.
