Nobu Hospitality announced its first Puerto Rico property Wednesday, a 50-room hotel and restaurant planned for San Juan in 2028, developed with KTT.
The announcement, distributed through PR Newswire, names KTT managing partner Joakim Lehmkuhl as the development partner. Plans include a street-level Nobu restaurant and bar, plus a rooftop lounge and bar.
“Bringing the Nobu Hotel and Restaurant to San Juan allows us to become part of one of the region’s most storied neighborhoods while introducing our distinctive approach to hospitality,” Nobu Hospitality CEO Trevor Horwell said in the announcement.
Lehmkuhl said the project “reflects the kind of investment we believe the city deserves.”
The release says the hotel will “reflect the character and heritage of San Juan” while introducing Nobu’s contemporary aesthetic. It did not give the hotel’s address or the investment amount, and it did not name a neighborhood.
Nobu operates 20 hotels worldwide and has nearly 30 more in development, Travel Weekly reported, according to MarketScale. The brand began as a restaurant concept and entered the hotel business in 2009.
