Police arrested a 32-year-old man wanted since August in a knifepoint robbery along the Condado Lagoon bike path that left a 67-year-old man stabbed.
Police arrested Luis A. Colón Velázquez, 32, of San Juan, this week on a warrant issued in absentia by San Juan Judge Lisa M. Durán Ortiz. Colón Velázquez faces robbery and weapons charges connected to an Aug. 7 incident on Avenida Baldorioty de Castro near Condado Lagoon.
According to the police investigation, Colón Velázquez used a knife to take a Scattante XRL 270 bicycle, valued at $600, from the 67-year-old victim. The man was cut on his right thigh during a struggle.
Durán Ortiz set bail at $70,000. Colón Velázquez didn’t post it and was jailed in Bayamón pending a preliminary hearing.
