A man found dead inside a trash bin in Barrio Obrero last week is now the subject of a Barrio Obrero homicide investigation, police say, after investigators recovered gunshot evidence at the scene.
Police have identified the man found dead in a trash container in Barrio Obrero on Sept. 3 as Roberto Enrique Valentín Maldonado, 24, a resident of Trujillo Alto.
Condado Daily first reported that the body was discovered around 9:20 a.m. inside a gray trash bin with a black lid, left on the balcony of a residence under construction on Calle Río Grande, near its intersection with Calle Henna, in Barrio Obrero’s Shanghái sector.
According to police, Valentín Maldonado had no prior criminal record. Investigators say he was found shot and without vital signs.
At the scene, agents recovered a blood trail leading from where the body was found to the front of the residence on Calle Río Grande, along with five bullet casings, according to Primera Hora and El Nuevo Día.
The case is being investigated by agent Javier Rodríguez Díaz of the San Juan Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) Homicide Division, along with prosecutor Maríasofia Cruz Colón.
