A masked intruder ransacked a 79-year-old woman’s apartment at Waterview Mansions in Miramar Monday night, fleeing by jumping to the parking level below when she screamed.
According to the police report, the woman was watching television around 9 p.m. Monday when she heard a noise. Walking into her living/dining area, she found a man in a black mask going through a cabinet. When she began screaming, he ran onto the balcony and jumped to the level below, which opens onto the parking area.
The intruder took a fabric wallet containing her identification and credit cards, along with jewelry that has not yet been appraised — including a three-diamond ring and a pair of gold earrings.
CIC technical services personnel documented hand and foot prints on both the victim’s balcony and the neighboring unit’s balcony. A ring and damaged jewelry belonging to the woman were later recovered in the parking area directly below her apartment.
Agent Richard Pagán of the San Juan and Santurce precinct handled the initial investigation; the case has been referred to the CIC San Juan Property Division.
