Police are investigating a break-in at a short-term rental property on Avenida McLeary in Ocean Park, where a Pennsylvania tourist reported jewelry and cash stolen.
According to the police complaint, a 31-year-old man staying at the rental told authorities someone entered the property Friday night and took a bracelet and a diamond ring valued at roughly $3,300, along with $400 in cash. The stolen items had been inside a black bag.
Agent Normarie Rentas of the Calle Loíza and Turística precinct conducted the preliminary investigation and referred the case to the San Juan Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC).
It follows a similar daylight robbery on Calle España in Ocean Park earlier this month, in which a masked man took a victim’s wallet and cash.
