AAA Executive President Luis González said Tuesday evening that the Carraízo rationing plan is suspended indefinitely, walking back an earlier same-day suggestion that Zone 1 interruptions could resume this Sunday — with the agency holding a fresh evaluation over the weekend.
Earlier Tuesday, AAA spokeswoman Michelle Cobb had told El Nuevo Día that interruptions could resume Sunday for Zone 1 customers “to avoid interrupting cycles,” and La Fortaleza spokeswoman Marieli Padró said the government was still monitoring reservoir levels and weather. That reporting circulated Tuesday evening via Primera Hora.
By later Tuesday night, González told WAPA.tv and Telemundo PR the interruption plan “se ha puesto en suspenso… indefinidamente” — suspended indefinitely — and said the AAA is not announcing a Sunday restart, pending a new evaluation that day.
Carraízo stood at 38.92 meters Wednesday, still in observation level, and WAPA.tv reports the reservoir trending upward toward 39 meters as of Wednesday morning.
The pause began Tuesday afternoon after the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly lifted Carraízo from “ajustes operacionales” to “observación” status, covering roughly 183,000 customers who had been under scheduled interruptions for nearly a month — a story Condado Daily covered Tuesday.
The AAA has also published its September rationing calendar for Zone 1 and Zone 2 customers. Recent rainfall has not been enough to end the plan altogether.
